Additional Details

first and only printing. Prints a full-page letter from Henry O. Flipper (1856-1940) first African-American graduate of West Point. He describes his posting at Houston Texas, and subsequent duty with 10th Cavalry at Fort Sill, Indian Territory. In 1881, in a clearly racially motivated case Flipper was accused of embezzling funds, and court-martialed. In reality, the wife of one of the white officers seemed overly interested in the handsome young trooper. In 1999 Flipper was formally pardoned by President William Jefferson Clinton.
